MENTORING

Who attends Mentoring Sessions?

Mentoring is a focused one on one relationship between a student and a trusted and experienced advisor. It can consist of one session or can continue over a period of time whatever suits the student. Mentoring appointments can be made after hours and on weekends so that people who leave busy lives can still develop their creative lives. Because of this type of relationship between student and mentor, people interested in becoming artists, or writers or developing their creative potential are able to focus and develop at their own particular pace. During sessions you will receive advice on a number of levels form technique to approaches, how to develop ideas and structure individual portfolios of work. Many artists take advantage of this service to receive the support they need to develop art folios, approach galleries and for support setting up their art career, first exhibition etc. Most people find individual mentoring assists them to reach their goals considerably quicker than being part of a class room or workshop situation. Mentoring works very well to unpick knots or blocks in a student’s creativity.

How do mentoring sessions work?

Each mentoring relationship is unique and guided by the goals and needs of each student. Every session though is focused on offering guidance, encouragement, advice and support, and offering the information which will develop the work of the student. A program will be drawn up based on realistic expectations that the student will take away and work on for an agreed upon time, returning to move to the next step.

Are Mentoring sessions tax deductible?

In many cases yes, especially when seen as a professional development. Talk with your individual tax agent will clarify your entitlements.

What is the payment schedule?

A mentoring schedule that suits you can be discussed on inquiry.
